Welcome to McGuire & McGuire Attorneys at Law
The practice of law is a lot harder since Joseph E. McGuire began his career in the field fifty-four years ago. Today, and especially since changes in the law from the early 1990's resulted in a "contracting of rights" making it more difficult, procedurally, to prosecute workmen's compensation cases, and the talents of our workmen's comp attorneys at McGuire & McGuire are taxed to the max.
Workmen's comp law used to consist of a simple presentation and a summary. In some instances the person represented himself or herself in the matter. But now because of the extremely technical nature of most of these cases, it is hard for any person to prosecute their case themselves. That is why we hardly ever recommend that a person go forward on their own.
While some cases that go before a Massachusetts Department of Inustrial Accident administrative judge for consideration can be dispensed with in a matter of hours, John McGuire recently handled a case that stretched out to nine days and involved testimony by a number of individuals including several medical people.
Much of the work that we do at McGuire & McGuire had its origins with Joe McGuire, who started the firm in 1950. Joe McGuire also strongly believes in the firm's philosophy "if you don't care about people, you shouldn't be a lawyer".
Finding the right lawyer can be difficult today. The number of lawyers in the Worcester area alone has grown appreciably. It's good for the consuming public but in looking for a lawyer you need to seek experience and integrity as the law gets more complex each day.
